Break Bulk shipment from Hamburg to Houston in the Gulf of Mexico

The project

This project is about the loading of the 243 metre long cargo ship, the Washington Express, for its journey to Houston on the Gulf of Mexico. This so-called break bulk colli weighed more than 83 tonnes, so for this project we are using a special floating crane from Hamburger Hafen and Logistik AG for this project.

A break bulk container is used to ship enormously bulky or heavy freight. Strictly speaking, there are two other terms behind it: Break bulk refers to the sea transport of both bulk and general cargo.
