The project

In this project, we coordinated the transport of two tanks with corresponding accessories from Niederfischbach (West Germany) via Bremerhaven to Falveston, Texas.

The dimensions of the individual tanks were 7.62 x 4.62 x 4.46 metres, each weighing 20.5 tonnes.

The transport from Niederfischbach to Bremerhaven was by truck. The FOT Niederfischbach (“Free On Truck”) lasted a total of three nights since metal masses may only be transported between 10 pm and 6 am. Due to the size of the tanks, the transport requires a boiler bridge trailer (special truck), special permits, night shifts, snow clearing services and sometimes police escorts.

The tanks were loaded punctually onto the RoRo ship (“Roll on Roll off” ship) in Bremerhaven and were made ready for their long journey to Galveston in Texas. The ship’s transport was by CFR. The CFR is a ship’s freight clause, whereby we enter into the freight contract in addition to our FOB obligations and thereby bear the freight costs up to the port of destination.
